A COMMUNITY COLLABORATION
Hotel School is an award-winning charity that empowers people who have experienced homelessness and other disadvantages to thrive in the hospitality industry. The dynamic 10-week programme combines theory, hands-on experience, and industry visits to provide the skills and confidence to land a job and excel in it. Hotel School started in 2017 and is a joint venture between The Passage (London’s largest voluntary sector homeless resource centre) and The Goring Hotel. It is supported by London’s leading hospitality industry and over 50 local businesses - a true coming together of the community.

INSPIRING
vulnerable people to get involved in hospitality.
The ‘Appetiser’ is a taster session that gives an insight into the hospitality industry. These are designed to inspire our students and inform them about the incredibly wide range of opportunities within it. Graduates who are now successfully in a career come to speak of their experiences and successes. Industry titans deliver inspiration.
TEACHING
the main skills of the hotel and restaurant business
The ‘Main Course’ is our 10 week programme teaching the key skills and knowledge to prepare students for the 4 key areas of service, kitchen, housekeeping and reception. This course is challenging and part of a selection process, but it is also punctuated with fun, inspirational and fascinating visits, guests and activities. Successful graduates receive a nationally recognised certificate and a supported pipeline into work with one of our industry partners.
CONNECTING
and match-making our trained students with the right employers.
While progressing through the ‘Main Course’, students are assessed and advised. Work experience placements throughout the 10 weeks help to get trainees ready and confident, as well as introducing them to employers.
SUPPORTING
our graduates as they take their first steps (back) into work, through in-work and out-of-hours mentoring.
Every student gets a dedicated in-work buddy, and a dedicated professional mentor outside of work.
Our graduates are then carefully matched to the right employer in one of our partner businesses and supported by our team for a minimum of 12 months after graduating.
